“Hi, our office has this ice nugget maker. Does anyone know if it has issues with "burning out"? We left it plugged in and on when not in use and n ow it no longer makes ice. Your help is much appreciated.”

I think you already suspect the answer. It's only meant to run with water. Hopefully you bought the product protection.
