• The speaker with the knob controls is an active speaker that houses the amps for both speakers. Consider this as the base speaker. Because it supplies power to the other speaker which is passive, they must be connected together to send the power and signal. This unit does however have bluetooth which IS a wireless system. Hope that helps clear it up!

• The wires provide power to the speakers. The “wireless” feature means you can connect via Bluetooth to your phone
