• A:Answer The speaker with the knob controls is an active speaker that houses the amps for both speakers. Consider this as the base speaker. Because it supplies power to the other speaker which is passive, they must be connected together to send the power and signal. This unit does however have bluetooth which IS a wireless system. Hope that helps clear it up!

• A:Answer This speaker set does NOT have a sub out, but Edifier has just come out with a new model, the R1280DBs, which DOES have a sub out. It costs $10 more than this model.

• A:Answer "Two way" means that each of these speakers has a tweeter and a woofer. "Three way" speakers have a tweeter, a woofer, and a mid-range driver. Tweeters produce high frequency sound; woofers produce low frequency sound; mid-ranges produce mid-range frequency sound. Three way speakers have a broader and more realistic sound spectrum than two way speakers, but sometimes, even oftentimes, the difference between the two types of speakers is not really evident to the casual listener.
