Yes you can. The eero would make it's own wifi network, so make sure to use a different name than what the netgear is providing (or change what the netgear is broadcasting). If you want devices on the eero network (like a computer) to be able to talk to devices on the netgear network (like a printer), make sure to put the eero into bridge mode (eero app->Settings->Network Settings->DHCP & NAT->move the dot to Bridge and click save).
