You absolutely can use this as an extender for another eero 6. I actually use the eero 6 as my "gateway connected to the cable modem", but also have an eero 5 node in the kitchen that covers the backyard, as well as an eero pro 6 in the basement and an additional eero 6 in the living room. It all works just fine and has not a single glitch or issue.

The second one I installed upstairs for better signal. I could have saved more money if I bought at Amazon as a bundle package of 3. Sometimes My cell phone picks up 3 different wifi signals in the house.
