Spectrum installs a modem that provides internet to you. This box usually provides a wi-fi signal to your devices. You can buy an eero to provide better wi-fi coverage to devices where you live. Or you use 2 or more eeros to cover a larger area where you live. You would have to keep the Spectrum modem in order to have internet.

It should work fine. The gateway/head eero needs access to the internet via an ethernet cable. if it has that and is setup it will create a Wifi network for your devices (and other eero) to connect to (other eero would extend the range).
