It's my understanding that all broadband wi-fi is pretty much the same. The modem may need to be compatible with the carrier's system, but from there any router should be able to produce the wi-fi for the house. If there is a concern you can ask anyone at Best Buy.

The gateway/head eero needs to get access to the internet via an ethernet connection. that is how internet gets into the eero system for the eero to provide over its wifi network. There are a few devices that will wireless get internet from the cell carrier and give you an ethernet port to plug into, the eero should work with one of those, but the eero does not have a way to wirelessly connect to a cell carrier for internet.
