You need to put the combo unit into bridge mode first, then you can plug a router into it.

Altice is not meant to be used in this fashion. An Altice Mini set top box would be needed and would act as the extender. If I am being honest Altice is an amazing product and service but if you need fast and reliable internet Altice is NOT the answer. The bandwidth is "throttled" and the range just isn't there.
