I purchased the eero pro because I wanted to have ethernet (wired) connections for the "backhaul" to the gateway eero. Also, I believe the beacons don't have ethernet ports and I needed these in multiple locations.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Throughput on the 2nd gen stuff (if you're using them in a wireless mesh with no more than one unit hardwired), you will see a substantial increase in performance. This is due to 2nd gen having a dedicated wireless backhaul.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The eero Plus (2nd gen 3 eeros) was recommended to us but we tried the eero One (eero router plus 1 beacon) first and it worked fine. We have a 2500 sf house and the main eero router is in an upstairs loft. The beacon is in the main level family room catty-corner to the loft. The beacon provides great service to the main level as well as a tv directly it in the basement. For the price difference we figured it was worth the try.
