That said, these could be used as follows: 1- to replace your existing router (not the modem) if you’re unhappy with your current router for whatever reason. 2- add a 2nd separate network to your service area, assuming you can connect to the same modem. You might want to do this is for example you have a rental unit in your home, or run a business out of your home and wish to keep that traffic separate, or for certain network-intensive services like gaming that you want off your main network.

Each piece is placed in any corner of your house you would like to alleviate dead spots. If your current modem and router gives you quality, fast internet without dead spots in your home, then this serves you no purpose.

If you live in a small apartment, then you probably do not need such devices. However, if your home is long or wide, or has multiple floors, this helps you get coverage throughout. If placed strategically, you can remove any coverage dead spots throughout your home and have good WiFi in your yard.
