“I put 5 songs on this and it says there is not enough storage for more? supposed to hold 100 songs. what am I doing wrong? I converted files to mp3 and dragged them from Itunes to the device.”

you must plug a USB storage device in the back for additional storage. Moreover you should check the encoding rate of the file, a 320kb/s mp3, is going to take 2.5 times the size of a 128kb mp3.
