As long as the connection is done with HDMI which the original Wii I believe didn't come with that standard.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The console you're looking to use needs to have an HDMI port. I'm pretty sure the Wii U has an HDMI port, so it should work. The Wii I know does not have an HDMI port, so you'll have to buy an aftermarket HDMI converter for the Wii. These can be found right on Amazon.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It should work with the Wii U since it's using HDMI but as for the original Wii, you might have to get a Component/Composite to HDMI adapter since the Wii doesn't have any HDMI ports.
