Will this heat up cold coffee or does this only keep hot coffee hot? null

The Ember Mug is designed to maintain already hot liquid. For best use, we recommend pouring in liquids that are hotter than your set temperature! If cool or cold liquid is poured into the mug, it may detect as empty and not heat.

It took longer for it to reach temperature when i added more cold then hot to the mug.

It will heat up cold coffee but you will need to stir it periodically so it can be frustrating. I found if you don't then it will think it's empty and has 0 fluid in it

I haven't tried that but I've placed the mug back on the charger after the battery drained and the coffee heated right back up. Going from cold to warm would use up considerable battery life but it's possible. I'd recommend placing the mug on the charger and then heat up your cold coffee.
