• There are many holes on the bottom and vertical vents on the side. The basket is removable. Otherwise it would be impossible to clean up the bottom of the pan.

• Yes it seems pretty nifty. Holes in removable basket, slick easy release. I haven't gotten mine to work yet.

• Yes, it has “slits” for the vent on the side and holes at the bottom. Also, you press the button with the arrow to release the basket.
