1) Dont put a bucket on it! Use a pot. 2) Considering the heating element is only 5.5", maybe think of either cooking a couple of batches in a smaller pot, or make sure you have your 5gal pot safely placed on the element and no one around it, clowning around. For the same reason you would not place a large pot on a portable camping gas stove. Use common sense.

If you’re talking about a 5 gallon stock pot; well that would be a more appropriate cooking utensil. There is no reason why this burner would not heat a 5 gallon stock pot of stew!
