A:AnswerI just put it in the window with no cover. If you want to cover it feel free to do so.
As far as cleaning just keep the air filter clean check it once a month and you should have a trouble free air conditioner
A:AnswerThey are allowing room for the accordian sides louvers. Simply cut them down to the point they will fit. Perhaps just using (1) side will do it. Or eliminate both of them and use window sealing foam.
