Yes but you will need to download the HP maintainence guide for this laptop as the rear is pretty sealed and you need directions how to removed the rear cover. Try this site: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-17m-bw0000-laptop-pc/20283133/model/21910840 Or http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06001790
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it can. To do so you would need to remove the cover, then the battery to get to the memory slots. Two slots. Supported memory is DDR4 2,400. The HP documentation does not say specifically anywhere what is the maximum supported RAM memory. In their user guide they mention two types of their own RAM memory chips, 8GB and 4GB, which could imply the maximum of 16GB, even if they do not explicitly say so. However, as per Crucial.com, which offers both the RAM memory and hard disks, the maximum supported memory in this HP laptop that you can upgrade is to 32GB with two 16GB units. Crucial.com website allows you to type in your computer/laptop model number and get all the eligible memory that would work in your unit. Hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did see the answer for using the removal/replace procedures for the memory (also the nice fellow gave you a link to the manual for all removal/replace procedures). That's all well and good. However I've opened up similar devices and it's something you would have to have experience at and maybe even the iFixit tools to do it properly including to remove torx screws etc. Also you do know this unit has the Optane memory installed which is NOT the memory you are talking about. I mention this because Optane memory gives this PC performance more like an SSD even though you have an HDD in this unit. I think the performance improvement you will get by adding 4GB of memory will not be much and certainly not worth the effort to 'break' open the unit which will include removing rubber strips from the bottom to get at the screws, removing the DVD drive, removing the battery, removing the memory and re-installing each. But it's your call. No need due to the Optane memory in my opinion.
