• You can, but you need a star bit and a spludger. The DIMMs are under this RF shield. I upgraded mine from 8GB to 16GB myself. There are some videos on Youtube showing how to open it. There are some screws under the rubber pad strips, be careful pealing those off. I accidentally ripped mine when doing this.

• Both memory slots are filled so you would need to ditch the 4 gb modules and replace them with 8 gb modules. This is a fairly simple upgrade, other than finding a use for the old RAM. The Service Manual located on the HP website has detailed instructions on opening the laptop and replacing the memory.
