To my understanding the the max speed it supports is DDR4 2400, I upgraded mine from 8GB to 16GB. In the laptop there are 2 4GB DIMMs. The DIMMs are located under an RF shield on the bottom of the laptop's motherboard.

Not sure about the speed of the RAM but you will have to replace the two 4 gb modules and replace them with two 8 gb modules. The HP Service Manual has all the info needed to replace the RAM, hard drive, etc. It is available for download on the HP support website.
