• The color slots on my WF-3640 are also narrow. But, so were the XL cartridges. They fit. Same size. Just twice as much ink.

• I had your same concerns but when I purchased a magenta 252XL and a Yellow 252XL, both ink cartridges were slim and not larger like the black 252XL. The 252XL color ink cartridges should fit into your Epson WF-7720 printer slots with no problem.
