• A:Answer After several years of use, the sides do not completely close up. I measure a 3/16" gap between the two sides, leaving the center vertical of the screen somewhat exposed. The sides are thick enough to protect from indirect damage. One would have to push a 1/8" object directly between the sides in the gap to affect the screen.
