The LCD is NOT the light source, it is the panel which produces the image, with a source of light required BEHIND the LCD panel to project the LCD image. That light source could be a traditional bulb (subject to burnouts) or an LED light source. Which one of the two will vary from one projector to another. I suspect the person who wrote the incorrect answer confused LCD (the imaging panel, which requires a light source) with LED (a light source).
