The manual says, "Sharing Photos with Epson FastFoto You can share your scanned photos via email with the Epson FastFoto software. 1. Do one of the following to start FastFoto: • Windows 10: Click and select EPSON Software > Epson FastFoto. • Windows 8.x: Navigate to the Apps screen and select Epson FastFoto. • Windows (other versions): Click or Start, and select All Programs or Programs. Select EPSON Software > Epson FastFoto. • Mac: Open the Applications folder and select Epson FastFoto. "Attaching a Scan to Email You can attach a scanned image to an email as a file attachment. Note: Your email app and account settings should be configured before scanning. You must install a MAPI-type email program such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, Entourage, or Mac Mail. Webbased email services such as Gmail are not supported. If you do not have a supported email program, you see an error message. 1. Make sure your originals are scanned and reviewed. 2. In the Select Action window, click Attach to Email. You see a screen like this: 3. Change the settings as follows: • The document type and scan date for the file name are automatically detected. You can change them as necessary. • You can save the scanned image in a variety of formats. If you select Searchable PDF as the File type setting, you can select the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) language. • If you also want to save a copy of the scanned image to your computer, make sure the checkbox is selected and select the folder on your computer in which to save the file. 4. Click Attach to E-mail." It sounds to me as if you need a computer to work the software and cannot just send to email directly from the scanner. If this doesn't help, this time, try contacting Epson directly.

I own both but the Epson 300 is most definitely meant for traveling. It scans about 20 sheets and can scan both sides at once. It works very quickly and produces great scans and costs less! I only bought this one for doing photos. I have shoe-boxes after shoe-boxes of photos and this is meant for high volume scanning of pictures. It will do other documents as well and if I was just to be home, I would have bought this one as opposed to both. But if it is for notary paperwork and being mobile, check out the Epson 300 (WR). It can run for a while without being pluggedin and folds down to about 2"x2"x10". Unless you plan to do photos, I would just buy the traveling one. But if photos in large volume is in your future, then don't pay $399 followed by $599.
