“Hi all, I just set up my new unit and activated the power on password feature. It doesn’t ask for a password when powering off & back on but it does ask for the password when the unit is unplugged & plugged back into the wall. Is this normal? Thank you!”

Hello NewProjectorOwner. Yes, this is normal. The Home Cinema 1080 will only ask for a password on power on – not power off. It will ask for the password when you enable the setting, but you must power cycle the projector by disconnecting the power cable to enable the feature.
