You actually can. I used a USB cord to connect to my Bose mini speaker for outdoor movies. The sound is great!

It does however come with speakers built in, if looking for something to take to the backyard then you are good but you can't lets say stream a movie using Chromecast to the projector and try to link a Bluetooth speaker to it, it just doesn't work. If you were planning on having a audio system it all has to be hooked up to something else like a receiver and just sent the image to the projector.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can't hook up external speakers straight from projector as it does not have an audio out. I hooked up mine with my PA system by using the Dish receivers HDMI cable to the projector and the RCA cables to the mixer for the audio. You could run your source through a main receiver and then send out the video from receiver to projector
