“is this compatible with secondary plug in for MacBook Pro so that I can input usb cable? because I have not been able to make it work since I got my Mac and switched from windows. the windows computer also says "unable to communicate" do I need a new usb?”

Hi Emma, The Perfection V39 Scanner should work when it is connected to any standard USB port on a computer. To use the scanner with a Mac, you must download the drivers from the Epson support site and install them. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.
