Mike, I scanned old photos with this scanner. If you want perfect white borders, uncheck the box for auto-orientation. With this feature, when it adjusts for a crooked photo the white edges will vary in thickness. Otherwise, it was great. What I love best about this was how fast it is. Also note: unless you need the remove dust and scratches feature, uncheck it. That feature will slow down the speed of the scan.
