I have bought these cartridges for over 6 years. Some months I, too, only print a few pages. I have never had the ink go bad. However, if I only print a few pages a month, I have occasionally noticed irregular printing on the page. When that happens, I simply have the printer run an ink head cleaning. Once, I had to do that two times in a row. The printer then prints clearly and the ink is just fine.

So, if the printer sits without usage for extended periods, you can run into issues with ink clogging. If printing at a low volume, to help prevent ink-related issues, we recommend doing print head nozzle check printouts every few days. Nozzle checks use very minimal ink and let you see the print head's status and run head cleanings if necessary. Please see the User's Guide on our official Epson Support page for more helpful maintenance information. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
