Hey... the tube is 1-3/4" wide. Its threaded on each end to specifically screw into the ceiling mount bracket and the projector mount bracket. There is another mount that attaches onto the projector and then slip-locks into the projector mount bracket. not sure how you could use any of your existing mount. I ended up replacing the whole thing and it worked great. Very easy to install.
