“Is this good for scanning photographs and storing digitally? I don't need document scanning - only thousands of old photos”

• I would not recommend this type of scanner for photo scanning. This scanner does not have a flatbed; it only has an automatic document feeder. Photos, especially delicate ones, don't tend to cope well with document feeders.

• Hello cd. The ES-580W is designed for scanning documents. We recommend looking at the Epson - FastFoto FF-680W, which is a similar scanner but is made for scanning photos. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
