“I purchased the WF-3820 printer and just set it up. The sample page I tested had very little data on it and should’ve printed very quickly… however, it took close to 1 minute to print one page in black ink only (no color). What could the cause be?”

You may not have waited long enough for the printer to configure itself. The almost always go through a lot of girations to start itself, and you can always have it clean the printhead, and it should be perfect after that. If not (and I know this is 5 days after you got it), TAKE IT BACK!
