Mine drove me crazy with skippy sentences printed. Looked like smeared also. Finally read common with Epson. Go to preferences page EVERY time you print something. Print quality check the highest at least. There is custom tab also. Go to that and slide the thingie over to far right. Only way I could get it to print acceptable, not good quality. I had to turn the 2 side printing off everytime also. Mine was piece of junk from new. Bought HP for $69 and holy cow how it prints so much better.
