“Does this Radar detector need line of sight? I'm living in Cali and can't mount on my windshield. I am looking at mounting on my rearview or down below the dashboard. Would below the dashboard work?”

Line of sight, but I have never needed to mount my radar detector. I have a no slide silicone like pad made for radar detectors that I just put on my dash with no adhesive and place the detector right on it. It never slides and in the Florida sun it doesn’t melt. I’ve heard of less quality ones melting but mine has not.

I went to get it installed and it needed to be mounted to either my dashboard or just below my rear view mirror; both of which would have been an eye sore for me so I opted out of having it installed and just pull it out as I need it, extending the plug from the cigarette lighter to the dashboard.
