Your Escort 8500 (READ not 9500) is old and can no longer complete the self calibration cycle that allows your old radar detector to operate reliably. It must either be sent into the manufacturer for service or used as a trade-in with the purchase of a new Escort 9500 or other current model. While you may find that the message disappears if you turn the unit off for a while and let it cool down, it will progressively get worse AND it is not operating correctly, i.e. you're likely to get a ticket like I did. BTW, the trade-in program is only offered through direct sales with the manufacturer.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Heat is never good for any kind of electronics. Try to keep it as cool as possible. Heat can damage the electronics and cause them to malfunction and not work correctly / acculturate. Also, this could also be cause by the device not getting a consistent voltage. Make sure it is securely in the lighter socket and doesn't move around. You may also want to test your lighter socket to make sure it is putting out the correct and consistent voltage. Other than that, I'd send the device into Escort for service.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.think of your radar as a tool in a quality inspection tool box at a company. every so often these "tools" need to be calibrated, to make sure they are measuring correctly so inspection can pass/fail the product properly. or think of it as a "tune-up" like you get done on your car....not to worry, just get it calibrated - there should be a local shop that cna do this
