Worth every penny!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very pleased with escort passport radar. I can't believe I waited A long as I did to finally put he's it. I have had a whistler and a uniden before purchasing the escort. I've always figured that it was too expensive and that I would be just paying for the name, but I was wrong! The next day after buying it I drove from Spokane WA to Seattle WA and I know i saved money by buying this radar. I could have had 3 speeding tickets which would have added up to 2 or 3 times the price I paid for the radar! I really like the mute button option on the plug. I just wish it had a power button too. I definitely would recommend this to anyone and to be honest I already have. If your debating spending the money , you need to stop and just do it! Buy it!

Great toy/tech gadget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this a month ago. I just attained the 'escort live!' smart cord for my iPhone 4S and it works wonderful. Con is the price and size. It is bit pricey for what it does but I guess it worth overtime. The size is too bulky compare to other products. The digital dash capability on the smartphone screen is bit inaccurate compare to my digital dash on my Boxster. The other minor issue is that the cable connector is located on the left side. I wish they had it on the back or the right hand side. But overall I love this new toy. =)

An Excellent Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hey, everyone. I purchased this Radar Detector after a lengthy conversation with one of my local Best Buy employees the day after I received a Speeding Ticket on the New York State Thruway. I had been coming up over a hill, in the fast lane, right before a Toll Booth. There was a tractor trailer to my immediate right, and someone riding my bumper behind me. I accelerated to get him off my bumper, and at the top of the hill was a New York State Trooper who hit my with Laser and caught me speeding. After purchasing this Radar Detector, I immediately installed it in my car while out in the parking lot. The instructions were very clear on how to install, set up and customize the product to how I wanted it. At no point did I find myself confused or having to look things up on Google. The suction cups provided work very well so far; I haven't had any problems with them losing suction and falling down, and I have my unit mounted directly underneath my rear-view mirror. With all of my settings customized to how I want them, I have no problem figuring out where the cops are. I've yet to have any kind of false-positives where the unit seems to go off for no apparent reason; every time it sounds, there's either a cop using radar or laser, someone near me with blind-spot detection in their car, or a business of some kind. A lot of cars today have "Blind Spot Detection," which actually uses radar, so it WILL set off your Radar Detector. The band is usually always "K Band." Many businesses that have automatic doors or certain alarm systems will also set off a Radar Detector with either "K Band" or "X Band." There are some Cops that use "K Band" Radar Systems, but most are always "Ka Band," and "Ka Band" will ALWAYS be a cop. All in all, I love this product. I don't speed very often; I do 5 MPH over in most areas like most people do, and on the Thruway I usually do 10 MPH over, but most people do as well. It's just really nice to have early warning in case I do accidentally end up going too far over the limit so I don't get a ticket. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to know where the cops are hiding.

An absolute essential for commuting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who drives a new BMW with a twin-turbo V8, not hard to imagine that a radar detector comes in handy. Working in downtown Indianapolis, the commute to and from my home is a drag. But with this radar detector, I have piece of mind making that commute a little shorter and getting home to my family a little faster. Obviously a radar detector isn't supposed to be an invitation for you to drive like an idiot and put others in danger. With that being said, it's incredible having piece of mind and knowing your hard earned money won't go to a speeding ticket. This detector is absolutely incredible. It is pretty much flawless in picking up all of the different detectors. It is almost too easy to use, just plug it in and after installing the super simple window mount and you're all set! Just be sure to pay close attention in the installation directions so you put the detector in the correct position. I also find it essential that the detector has internal memory so a sensor from something like automatic doors at a convenient store won't send the detector off every time you drive by said convenient store. If you are in the market for buying a radar detector, this 9500ix is the best value and Escort makes the best. Highly recommended.

Best Radar Detector for Around Town
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My decision was between this and the escort redline. I picked this one over the redline because I do more city driving than highway driving. The redline is better suited for the highway. This radar detector has saved me many of times. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone that either has a lead foot like myself or is an impatient driver. This isn't 100% effective though without a responsible driver who is aware of their surroundings at all times and knows when and when not to speed. Also, it is nice to know what stop lights are red light cameras.

Performs Even to This Day
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after getting a speeding ticket, naturally. To this day, I've never gotten another one, although I usually only do 5MPH over the limit like most people. When mounted properly, this unit will alert you to radar and laser from a fairly decent distance away. I've had it start picking up radar almost a mile away on an open stretch of road before. I like that it comes with the Smart Cord, so you're easily able to mute the sound without having to fiddle with the buttons on the unit itself. My only gripe with this unit is that it doesn't have any of the IVT Filtering that Escort now offers, which is used to filter out In Vehicle Technology such as Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warnings, Front and Rear Collision Assist, etc. All of those technologies use radar to function, so they will set this detector off every time you get close to them, so there's a lot of false positives. I can't take a star off for that though, since Escort wasn't really implementing IVT Filtering into their units at the time of purchase. All in all, I'm satisfied with the unit, for what I paid for it. If you're looking for a reliable, affordable unit; this is the unit for you!

Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Owned for about a month, but have already used it on cross-country trip. Some city driving, but mostly highway. Extremely accurate, and not a lot of false alarms. Marks X and K Band areas that are not patrol activated, so after a few visits through those areas, they are marked as such, and ignored on future visits. Highly recommend this, and DO connect to their free initial update service for GPS accuracy on fixed cameras, etc. I don't use the Bluetooth connection to Escort Live (yet), but thinking about it. Very quiet when it needs to be, and fits firm and well on my very slanted windshield. Have a Mercedes SLK with very small back window, but 360 monitoring seems very accurate, thus far. Would buy again. Ka band is nearly perfect with very good range. Wish it came with the Bluetooth (Live) cord, but guess that's their game to get you to spend just a little more money. Pricey equipment, but worth it. Can't compare to other units, as this is the first detector I've had in about 20 years. Did a lot of research though, and this one is the best value, imo. No experience with Laser yet. Factory defaults are best overall settings, except have added speed to the monitor, and abbreviated the Auto settings. I use Waze app (iPhone) also, and recommend that in combination with this unit if you don't want to upgrade to Live.

Q: QuestionSelf Calibration...Service Required ....These above notes appeared on my 8500 screen. We live in Florida, where it gets VERY hot in the car. What's causing this?? I have put a white slip of paper over the top of the unit to shield it from direct sun rays.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Your Escort 8500 (READ not 9500) is old and can no longer complete the self calibration cycle that allows your old radar detector to operate reliably. It must either be sent into the manufacturer for service or used as a trade-in with the purchase of a new Escort 9500 or other current model. While you may find that the message disappears if you turn the unit off for a while and let it cool down, it will progressively get worse AND it is not operating correctly, i.e. you're likely to get a ticket like I did. BTW, the trade-in program is only offered through direct sales with the manufacturer.

Q: Question9500ixcan police detect this device when I drive the car?
Asked by www.
- A:Answer VA is the only state where using a radar detector is prohibited in a passenger vehicle. They are also prohibited in DC. This detector can be detected by Spectre RDDs only. It is invisible to VG2 RDDs (radar detector detectors). The only radar detectors that are invisible to all current and future RDDs are our RedLine, Passport 9500ci and the Beltronics STi series of radar detectors.
