• ​Yes, it will detect a drop. This vacuum has three drop sensors on the bottoms of it. The drop-sensing technology can avoid falling downstairs and off of ledges. Since the sensors are infrared, the dark floor or carpet might affect the sensors to work probably. You can also use the boundary strips in the package to protect the vacuum. • Yes it will drop off stairs. You will need to put the magnet strip that is included with the vac down or use a 1x2 piece of lumber To create the barrier
