It , strictly speaking depends on the sensitivity setting on the motion detection and the angle (relative to the surface being surveilled ) as to the distance. My best guess based on my cam is about 60 feet (when on the highest setting, my camera is about 7 feet above the surface). The camera will detect motion of cars passing by in the street. Of course, this is during the day. I don't have a really good feel for the IR detection. My best guess is about 15-20 feet (the camera does pick up cats prowling during the wee hours of the morning).
