Yes -- it will verbally tell you that the door isn't closed. And, if you set the timer to one second, as I have, once you actually close the door your phone will also show the activity as well as you can hear the deadbolt engage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you get an alert if the lock doesn't lock correctly
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does not. It's kind of annoying when the auto lock kicks in and the doors wide open, but a small annoyance for the benefit of it locking when you do shut the door and forget.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the door isn't fully closed, the lock won't lock, and will give an audible notification as well as one to your phone (if you have them turned on). It has a small motor that turns the deadbolt, but it's fairly weak (probably by design), so if there's much friction at all, it won't be able to fully extend the deadbolt and therefore will give an error. So it's important to make sure everything lines up properly when you install it and may need adjustment down the road if it's a new house as the house framing settles. Now if you're referring to the door being completely open, then you can lock the door with the app and the lock will extend and as far as the door and app are concerned, the door is locked and will show as locked but in reality, the door is wide open and the deadbolt is fully extended. There is no sensor that lets the deadbolt know whether it's in the door casing or not, which would be a nice feature/addition.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.GoVols2 is EXACTLY correct. With the door unlocked, a person, in order to keep the door open at all times, can manually turn the knob to extend the dead bolt and let the extended dead bolt keep the door from closing. You will get indication that the door is LOCKED, but it is not. A "door position indicator" must be built into the lock to verify that the door is actually in proper closed position. I bought 2 KWIKSET HALO smart deadbolt locks and I called the company and they do NOT have any smart deadbolts with the door position indicator.
