• It is a doorbell so I would say the motion detector will still take pictures but the door bell won’t work.

• Yes you can mount it anywhere. The only issue is that it has to be where you can get a wifi connection. The camera and chime need to be wifi connected. The bell sends the video to the memory card stored in the chime.
