My doorbell camera is a floor down from the chime. I have the chime near my wifi modem. Although not asked, I will tell you that you hear conversations across the street clearly!!! Not that you want to, but it is a very good system. I just have the door camera with chime.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.since the accompanying device contains many extras such as different door chims sounds along with a setting for an alarm (if you want it) I placed mine in the living room. Also access to the memory is easier.
