The slightly longer answer is a combination of people stuck at home and bored, a chip shortage, and probably bitcoin miners that are buying all the supply. so manufacturers are increasing price to get money back on their more expensive chips and retailers are increasing prices to keep up with manufacturers and to profit off of demand.

Typical tariff practices are to pass the expense to the end customer where logical. In our case we don’t have the leverage to ask a retail company or the manufacturer to pay the tariff so we the end customer will pay this price.
