• This card should be fully compatible with a motherboard that has at least one pci-express 16X slot and newer boards will almost definitely have one of these slots. I believe it would still work on an 8X but you would be limiting it's potential.

• The Short answer. Yes if is the Gaming 5 Board. The downside is you said MSI. I have really tried to like MSI boards based on price-point but have not had the reliability vs Gigabyte or ASUS. Sorry if I busted your bubble...
