Yes, my son lives in Poland, I used the portal and he used his cell phone. I bought him a Portal (as they aren't sold in Poland) and now we connect using my portal and my son using his Portal. Big difference in the ability to actually feel as though I am there with him and his family.

Yes, My child is in Japan, and I see and talk to her everyday.

Yes, it will work in other countries.
