But you do need to remove your hand from any contact with the shredder slot, since this shredder has the safety feature of pausing the shredding if fingers are touching the shredder slot.

I have to push the button to wake the unit up and sometimes it take a few button pushes. Once it's in use it seems fine until the next ideal time. This is a feature I do not like about the unit.
