It is always, you use the smartphone app to set it up
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You control the Recast through your Fire tv interface displayed on your tv. That is controlled by the Fire Remote control or you can use the Fire remote control ap. You would not turn it off since that would then stop scheduled recordings, it is after all a DVR. If you need to turn it off you would unplug it. You will have to use your smartphone with Fire ap in order to connect to your home wifi.
