Yes, it will show who's calling & will also show at least the first few words of the text

The call/text alert moves too fast for me to see who called.. I accidentally saw it once because I was looking at the time when a call came in. I'm returning mine.

Yes, it will alert you and you can read your text messages (or at least the first little bit if they're long) and it will vibrate and display who is calling you when a call comes in.

If the person calling is someone in your contacts it will display who is calling. Same for texts, although if it's a long text it won't display it in its entirety.
