• Bluetooth will need to be on, but not location. When I use the walk exercise it works better with the location on and my phone nearby.

• No, it will sync via Bluetooth. It can use location data if you track exercise routes.

• No. The app will constantly send a reminder to turn it on but only the bluetooth is actually required...helps to have "all-day sync" on too for the watch and phone to correspond. If running or exercising outdoors, I think it would be better to have location turned on to accurately track your route.
