No, when midnight hits it automatically resets to zero steps. Even if you are taking a late walk, the moment that 12:00 hits, you will go back to zero steps

You should sync with dashboard (either on phone or desktop) periodically to access all your info. On the tracker, you cycle through time, steps, heart rate, calories, distance, floors and your next silent alarm. You can adjust what you see and what order on your dashboard. The "book" is basically on line at fitbit.com. Hope that helps
