No not water proof as in can take deep under water but you can take a shower with it.

No they are not, although I did forget mine was on my wrist and wore it in the shower and it was okay. The literature makes it very clear that it is not waterproof. Do not wear it in the pool or get the contacts wet.

Do not submerge in water. Always take off before showering. It's not waterproof.

The Charge is water resistant. It will be fine in the rain. I don't wear it in the shower and they don't recommend it, but if you forgot and did, it would probably be OK. The Fitbit Zip I first got, took a cycle through the washing machine and dryer. It worked fine. The connector to recharge is open on the back and that is the part that might have a problem if say, you went swimming.

They are water resistant but the charger plug in open in the back. I take it off then I am around water, It is water resistant when working out.

No, it is water resistant, meaning it can handle getting splashed if you dry it right away. You should not wear it in the shower or while swimming.
