You can connect a new device but your steps will restart.

Yes you can do it via the app or from the Fitbit dashboard most likely just during setup log in with your existing Fitbit account. Once you have the new tracker installed remove the old tracker and you are able to keep your totals and badges.

I believe so. I have the surge and the one. They both link to the account. I had an old fitbit that was linked to the account and its numbers stayed even when I deleted it

No, since it is a different unit. I had a similar experience - however, contact the folks at fitbit and see if they can continue your information on your account on the computer - it will not be in your individual unit.
